Helpful Resources and Info When Parenting Teens
Date: 02/17/25
As your child transitions from childhood to being a teenager, they experience physical, emotional and social changes during this time. You can help your teen stay healthy and navigate any changes with these five tips.
- Safety first! Talk to your teen about topics like texting and driving and the risks associated with alcohol and drugs.
- Make sure your teen is getting enough sleep. It is recommended that they get 8 to 10 hours of sleep. Lack of sleep can affect their mood and ability to concentrate.
- Talk with your teen. Let them know they can come to you if they are ever feeling down or stressed. Teens experience a lot of emotional change and may need someone to talk to.
- Take care of yourself and be a positive role model! If you are eating healthy, exercising and building other healthy habits, you set a good example for your teen.
- Talk with your teen’s pediatrician or primary care provider (PCP). Make sure your teen is up-to-date on vaccines and stay informed on their health and development.
